A close-up of the floriferous standard ligustrum - or privet - in early summer. After its lovely cones of frothy, creamy white, an abundance of small, black berries covers the plant. Many people prune it incorrectly so that it never flowers or berries. What a shame! It is so much more than a trusty evergreen. Every ligustrum should be allowed to show off!
